A draft comprehensive plan for Bloomington is in development. Based on past public input and processes the time has come to reengage the community to refine topic areas (chapters) and their respective goals and policies. These will be used to help guide Bloomington towards 2040. The following are goals for Transportation:

Goal 7.1 Create a sustainable transportation system that emphasizes walking, bicycling, the use of public transportation, and other methods to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and the use of single occupancy
vehicles.

Goal 7.2 Maintain an efficient roadway network for all users.

Goal 7.3 Protect neighborhood streets that support residential character and provide a range of local
transportation options.

Goal 7.4 Encourage attractive, convenient public and private motor vehicle and bicycle parking facilities.

Goal 7.5 Provide a high level of safety for motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists on Bloomington streets.
